A Way to Honor Moms on Mother’s Day That Benefits the Community
AVON, CT, Apr. 28, 2021 – A local non-profit has come up with a way to celebrate moms on their big day and feed those in need year-round. Gifts of Love has paired up with Happy Plant Project to deliver flowers during the Mother’s Day weekend with a portion of the proceeds benefitting their work in the community.
Anyone who orders one of three Happy Plant Project arrangements will also be donating 20% of the proceeds to Gifts of Love’s programs. Happy Plant Project will deliver the arrangements on Saturday, May 8 or Sunday, May 9 along with a note from the sender.
This is the second fundraiser in which the two organizations paired up. Their Valentine’s Day fundraiser raised over $3,000 to fight hunger and support the needs of Gifts of Love clients. “This is a win-win for everyone,” says Gifts of Love Executive Director, Ryan Pettengill. “Fans of moms in our area get to honor them with one of these remarkable arrangements. Fans of Gifts of Love can support the organization at the same time and ultimately our clients benefit with food and other items to help them cope with the challenges they are facing. We are so grateful to Happy Plant Project, which is just starting up, for choosing to do good while building their new business.”
Anyone in Hartford County may participate. They must place their orders by May 5 by going to GiffsOfLoveCT.org/MothersDay.
Those wishing to support Gifts of Love at other times may donate funds, food, clothing and household goods at the Gifts of Love Avon office on 34 East Main Street, Avon or on-line at GiftsofLoveCT.org. The nonprofit recently launched an online platform that allows people to donate on a recurring basis and to round-up debit card purchases with the difference going to Gifts of Love. In addition, they added a text-to-give option for donations. They participate in the Amazon Smile Program which sends donations of 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible Amazon goods to them every time the donor shops for them. In addition, 10% of the proceeds from the sale of branded Gifts of Love gear goes to support their programs.
Those searching for flowers or custom woodcraft items can connect with Happy Plant Project through their Facebook or Instagram accounts.
