A Community Celebration: The Hoffman Family Rededication

On Monday, September 15th, we gathered with neighbors, partners, and friends to celebrate a very special moment—the rededication of the Gifts of Love Avon office honoring the Hoffman Family. The event was not only a chance to recognize their legacy of generosity, but also to reflect on the countless ways their support has strengthened our mission and enriched the lives of so many.

Jon and Megan Hoffman joined us for the occasion, representing the family and their tradition of giving that spans generations. Their presence underscored just how deeply rooted the Hoffman Family’s commitment is—not just to our organization, but to the entire community.

This rededication also marked the completion of extensive exterior renovations to our building, made possible thanks to generous grant funding from Avon ARPA, The John G. Martin Foundation, the Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act, and the Elizabeth Ferry Speers Foundation. These much-needed improvements gave us not only a refreshed and welcoming space, but also the opportunity to celebrate the Hoffman Family in a meaningful way by dedicating the building in their honor.

During the ceremony, the Hoffman Family was presented with a Certificate of Recognition from the Office of Senator Chris Murphy, delivered by Genevieve Peruccio on behalf of the Senator. We were also honored to welcome State Senator Paul Honig, Avon Town Manager Brandon Robertson, Simsbury Town Manager Marc Nelson, Avon Town Council Member Margaret Bratton, and Simsbury Selectman Diana Yeisley, who joined in celebrating this occasion. Representatives from Connecticut Foodshare were also in attendance, along with Yilka Sakaj, Family and Community Engagement Coordinator at CREC Reggio Magnet School of the Arts, who shared a moving testimony about the impact the Hoffmans and Gifts of Love have had on students participating in the Weekend Backpack Program.

The Hoffman Family has been a steadfast supporter for decades, helping to fuel programs that provide food, resources, and hope to those who need it most. Their contributions have created a ripple effect of stability and opportunity that continues to grow. The rededication wasn’t just a look back at what has been accomplished—it was a joyful reminder of what we can achieve when families, organizations, and communities join together.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Hoffman Family, to Jon and Megan for representing them so beautifully, and to everyone who joined us to mark this occasion.
